French playwright Jean Anouilh (1910-1987) wrote The Rehearsal (Le Repetition, ou L'Amour Pari) in 1950, with its first English translation production taking place in 1963.

The plot involves the conceit of a play within a play, with actors in 18th century French costume though the time period is 1950, taking place in a lush inherited estate. The play being enacted is Pierre Carlet de Marivaux's 'Double Inconstancy' which juxtaposes compassion and virtue with self-interest and material and sexual gain. Marivaux's play mirrors the lives of the characters and each must come to terms with revelations that surface about themselves and their lives.
Collection consists of 1 Hollinger box containing production documentation, extensive news clippings, playbill, script, casting notes, and administrative files. Collection lacks documents detailing artistic vision for the play (director's notes, set, costume, sound, lighting).

Digital files contain scanned photographs, scanned costume sketches, scanned press clippings, scanned playbill, scanned study guide, and show art used by the marketing department to promote the production.
