Arthur Miller's After the Fall takes place in the mind of its lead character, Quentin, as he revisits all of his past loves in an attempt to decide whether or not to marry his current flame, Holga.  The play is a thinly veiled critique of Miller's real-life marriage to movie star Marilyn Monroe (which had recently dissolved when he wrote the work in 1963).
