Production Files documenting the 2013 production of Terence Rattigan's The Winslow Boy at the American Airlines Theatre; the production was originally mounted at The Old Vic in London, England. Directed by Lindsay Posner, with set and costume design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by David Lander, sound design by Drew Levy, original music by Michael Bruce, and hair and wig design by Paul Huntley.
The production starred Michael Cumpsty as Desmond Curry, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as Grace Winslow, Alessandro Nivola as Sir Robert Morton, and Roger Rees as Arthur Winslow; with Spencer Davis Milford as Ronnie Winslow, Henny Russell as Violet, Zachary Booth as Dickie Winslow, Charlotte Parry as Catherine Winslow, Chandler Williams as John Watherstone, Meredith Forlenza as Miss Barnes, and Stephen Pilkington as Fred. The latter two actors also understudied roles, as did Glynis Bell, Anthony Crane, Anthony Newfield and Ryan Quigley.
Written in 1946 and based on true events, The Winslow Boy is the story of young naval cadet Ronnie Winslow, who is accused of stealing a 5 shilling postal order, threatened with expulsion from the naval academy, and the legal battle that ensues.
This production was the play's first Broadway production since its US premiere in 1947.
